Donald Trump pays tribute to those who prevented Sunday’s assassination attempt.
Among other things, a witness who saw the suspected perpetrator’s escape through a bush at the presidential candidate’s golf course.
– Now he is behind bars and hopefully he will do that for a long time, he says in an interview that was broadcast on platform X.
Presidential candidate Donald Trump was on his golf course in Florida when he suddenly heard several shots being fired. Some distance away, a Secret Service agent had seen a rifle barrel, which he fired at. Later, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested, and he is now suspected of attempted murder of the former president.
Witness photographed the getaway car
Trump has previously praised the actions of the Secret Service – but also praises the witness who identified how the suspect fled through a bush and into a black Nissan after the shooting. He must then have been in the vicinity of the golf course for almost twelve hours.
The witness photographed the car and handed the image over to the police.
– Now he is behind bars and hopefully he will do that for a long time. He is a dangerous person, a very dangerous person, Trump said in the interview, which was broadcast on X.
Conversation with Biden
President Joe Biden called Trump on Monday about the assassination attempt.
– He called up to make sure I was okay, Trump says in the interview.
He has previously accused both Biden and Kamala Harris that their “hateful rhetoric” may have triggered the suspected perpetrator.
