Emily in Paris continues with season 5 – but now the title really doesn’t make any sense anymore

Emily in Paris continues with season 5 – but now

Emily in Paris is allowed to live. While Netflix has drawn criticism from fans in the past due to several cancellations, the future of Darren Starr’s snazzy dramedy is secure. Today the streamer announced that Emily in Paris season 5 is coming.

Emily in Paris also takes place in Rome in season 5

Netflix’s post states:

Nowhere is it as beautiful as Rome. Emily in Paris is back for SEASON 5!

Lead actress Lily Collins can be seen, adorned with the insignia of the Roman world of pleasure: The Queen of the Eternal City sips an espresso, the cup of which announces the good news of season 5. She is also sitting in front of an extremely delicious-looking specialty. After extensive research, it is a Roman delicacy called Maritozzo, which is a milk roll filled with cream. Emily is about to eat the fine restaurant version of it.

The title of the Netflix series no longer makes sense

However, the post raises a question that is bigger than any milk roll we know: Shouldn’t the series slowly be renamed Emily in Rome? Especially when marketing already flirts with the idea that “Nowhere as beautiful as Rome”.

After four seasons of befriending the quirky and fashion-conscious residents of the city of love, they are apparently being put aside for the next European capital. Calling this series Emily in Paris seems either an affront to the Parisian ego or, as Sylvie would say, stupid.

My colleague Joana Müller has examined the Rome complex of Emily in Paris in this article.

This is what the creator says about the Rome focus

Creator Darren Starr commented on the allegations, that the series will not be renamed:

Emily will be present in Rome. That doesn’t mean she won’t be in Paris, but she will be present in Rome.

Starr wants to jump to Rome, the “Be ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” and prove “that the show has the ability to leave a larger footprint.”

Emily in Paris: When is season 5 coming to Netflix?

The fifth season of the dramedy does not yet have a release date. It is conceivable that the next season will be released in two parts, which not before summer next year could happen. The first three seasons were released one year apart, and it was only with number 4 that there was a break of about one and a half years.

We will of course keep you updated about the start date. Until then, you can watch season 4 on Netflix to find out exactly why Emily will be strolling across the Tiber bridges in the future.
