A SCARY PICTURE IN ISTANBUL

Medipol Bahçelievler Hospital Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Müslüm Süngü said that there has been an increase in Covid-19 cases. Underlining that they have been struggling with Covid since 2019, Specialist Dr. Süngü said, “We have gone through a serious process. Unfortunately, even though our people act as if this disease does not exist, Covid is still ongoing. There has been a serious increase in cases since August 15. 4 out of 5 patients who came with flu complaints tested positive for Covid. When the patient comes to get their result, we tell them that they have Covid. Despite knowing this, they still do not wear a mask.”

“MASKS SHOULD BE USED IN PUBLIC AREAS”

Stating that the seasonal flu season has started especially with the start of school, Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Süngü said, “Our children spend time in a crowded environment at school. A friend getting the flu triggers the whole school to get the flu. The flu that starts at school is carried to homes by carriers and from there to workplaces. This cycle spreads to every segment of society. During this period, I recommend the use of masks in environments where people work and live together.”

THE EFFECT HAS REDUCED BUT THE RISK CONTINUES

Recommending that people with flu, runny nose and sore throat should definitely wear a mask, Dr. Süngü said, “Patients with these complaints should go to the nearest health institution and get tested. The lethal effects of Covid have decreased considerably over the years compared to the early days. The complaints of the patients are partly more innocent. However, the danger continues for patients who are older, have low immune systems and have chronic diseases.” (DHA)This content was published by Ufuk Dağ
