This weekend, the 20-year-old responded in the best way for his Eintracht Frankfurt.
During the last national team gathering, young people ended up Hugo Larsson in great focus. The 20-year-old is one of Swedish football’s biggest talents but didn’t get the chance at all away against Azerbaijan.
The national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson chose to bench Larsson with the justification that he wanted to see “more vertical passes”, i.e. offensive passes that go forward in the field. The national team midfielder then sat the entire match on the bench.

The situation then developed into a real conflict and Hugo openly showed his disappointment. He then also left the national team gathering with an alleged injury and was not in the match against Estonia.
Hugo’s revenge
Once back at his club Eintracht Frankfurt, Larsson showed no signs of any injury at all and trained as usual last week. This weekend he also played 85 minutes in the Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg and the Swede got his big revenge after all the criticism that has been.

Hugo Larsson was behind Eintracht Frankfurt’s lead goal – with a vertical pass(!) – when he played his team-mate forward Hugo Ekitikewho was later able to assist Omar Marmoush to 1-0. See the goal below.
Frankfurt won 2-1 and the 20-year-old played a key role in another victory for the successful team, which is now sixth in the German top flight. It remains to be seen what Jon Dahl Tomasson says about that effort.
