Hybrid work, this mode of organization that mixes remote and face-to-face work, has become established in many French companies. To the great delight of employees in France who have children, as revealed by a survey by the International Workplace Group.

Nearly three-quarters of French people surveyed in this survey* feel that hybrid working has enabled them to become better parents. 88% say they are closer to their children and more present for them since they started working from home regularly, while 84% believe that their family’s quality of life has improved.

This is because the hybrid model has the advantage of offering employees a certain flexibility in organizing their workdays. They can choose to work remotely on a given day due to personal obligations. An organizational freedom that would promote a better balance between private and professional lives.

Indeed, 88% of French people say that regular teleworking leaves them more time for family activities. One in two parents say they have more time to have breakfast with their family or to help their children with their homework. Even more say they can be more present during important events for their children, such as school holidays (56%), family evenings (42%) or sports training (28%).

Thanks to hybrid work, fathers and mothers in France say they have two to three extra hours per week to devote to their family, which is equivalent to 100-150 hours per year. A considerable time saving that allows them to enjoy their loved ones more, but also to save money.

Because childcare is expensive, even if prices vary greatly depending on the type of care, the family’s situation (income, composition, financial aid, etc.) and where they live. The majority of parents who alternate between face-to-face and remote work (58%) say that hybrid working has helped reduce their childcare costs, with an average saving of €5,200 per year.

There’s every reason to believe that hybrid work has many advantages and few disadvantages for parents. That’s why they don’t want to give it up. 69% of parents say they wouldn’t accept a new job that required them to go to the office five days a week.

*This study was conducted by Mortar Research, on behalf of the International Workplace Group, in August 2024 among 1,000 teleworking executives living in France with their children.
