Henrik Lundqvist is one of the greatest ice hockey goalies ever and he has millions of fans worldwide.
He himself has a great role model who does not actually come from the world of sports.
– I have met him a couple of times, he says in “P4 Extra – The Guest”.
He has won Olympic gold with Tre Kronor, been named Sweden’s best goalkeeper ever, kept the most clean sheets of anyone in the history of the New York Rangers and won two SM gold with Frölunda. Henrik Lundqvist42, is undeniably one of our biggest sports stars ever.
“King Henrik” was forced after 15 years (2005-2020) to leave the club of his heart, New York Rangers. When the transfer to the Washington Capitals was secured, however, he was forced to end his active career when the doctors discovered a heart defect in him and he underwent surgery because of this.
He is “Henke” Lundqvist’s idol
That many aspiring ice hockey goalies have Henrik Lundqvist as a great role model is no surprise. When he himself has to talk about one of his biggest idols of all time, he mentions a world-famous man who is not associated with sports at all.
Lundqvist is a recognized great music lover and a skilled guitarist. His role model is one of the world’s most famous artists, Bruce Springsteen74.
When the radio profile Look Schultz asks him to talk about Bruce in “P4 Extra – The Guest” he says that he actually met his hero… on more than one occasion.
– Yes, a couple of times. Both in Gothenburg, New Jersey and in New York City. So little spread out, he says.
Met several times
What was it like meeting him then? Lundqvist is rather tight-lipped when describing the meetings with Springsteen, but he has obviously traveled a lot to get a chat with him.
– He is very nice. I have seen him both in New Jersey and in Madison Square Garden and at Ullevi of course, says Henke.

The favorite place to see him play live, however, has not been the artist’s home state of New Jersey, but rather his own home turf.
– I like Ullevi. It is difficult to be a prophet in your own hometown. I thought New Jersey, at MetLife, was good, but at Ullevi you can go back to a lot of good concerts, says Lundqvist.
How nice that you had the honor of meeting your great idol, Henke. Few are blessed.
