The man was walking with a walker when he was attacked on Wednesday.

Then the police deployed their detectives.

According to information, they should have followed the suspect boy “around the clock” before they struck.

A man in his 80s was on his way home from his dementia-sick wife in Hässelby, in northwest Stockholm, on Wednesday evening when he was attacked and stabbed.

In a closed social media group, a video purported to show the knife attack on the elderly man began to spread. The film shows how the man who was out walking with his walker was suddenly attacked with several stab wounds in the back – by a person unknown to him.

Shortly after the alarm about the crime came, the police must have quickly suspected who the perpetrator was.

According to information, detectives were deployed to follow the perpetrator – who was a 14-year-old boy, according to information.

– After Wednesday’s attempted murder in Hässelby, we have had an interesting person under constant surveillance with the aim of preventing new acts of violence, said John Lindström from the police, in a press release yesterday.

Tasks: Scouted “around the clock”

In addition to the fact that the police, according to sources, had surveillance on the boy “around the clock after the crime”, they also allegedly conducted a house search at the boy’s home to, among other things, compare shoes and clothes with the video that allegedly showed the crime.

At the same time as the police’s suspicions were quickly directed in the boy’s direction, anonymous tips must also have been received by the police.

Among other things, the tip must have been about the boy being part of an internet movement that claims to celebrate acts of violence against people and animals.

Suspected of several murders

If it is the suspect who is behind any of the accounts, the police do not want to comment.

– But we know about the films and have secured the evidence that is up on the internet, says Andreas Imhagen.

The boy was taken into custody on Friday. The police also believe that he is behind an attack on a woman in her 50s that occurred in Hässelby in July, according to information.

– We are now looking at whether there are connections to previous cases with similar modus operandi that were carried out in the same area, said Andreas Imhagen, acting head of local police area Vällingby, on Friday.
