Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen confirms the rumors – runs a half marathon tomorrow

However, the 23-year-old star – who has Olympic gold in the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters – does not have such high expectations for himself.

“It will be exciting to see if I can finish at all,” he says and points out that it has been a long season.

Ahead of Friday’s Diamond League gala in Brussels, there was speculation that Ingebrigtsen would line up in Copenhagen.

– I don’t have a plane ticket home, the star replied cryptically then. He won
1,500 meters in Brussels in 3.30.37. The race in Copenhagen starts already at 09.30.

Almgren holds the Nordic record

It is now clear that Ingebrigtsen will participate in the half marathon that takes place on Sunday. He has never before run over 10 kilometers in an official competition.

Ingebrigtsen will encounter the toughest possible opposition in the race. World record holder Jacob Kiplimo of Uganda will make an attack on his own record of 57.31.

Sondre Nordstad Moen holds the Norwegian record for the distance, with a time of 59.48. The Swede Andreas Almgren has the Nordic record with 59.23 and the Swiss Julien Wanders has the European record with 59.13.
