A final parade is being organized in Paris this Saturday, to celebrate the French athletes of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games…

The French will bid a final farewell to their Olympic and Paralympic athletes this Saturday, September 14, in the streets of Paris. A grand parade is being organized on the Champs-Elysées to salute the dozens of medalists from the French delegation. The latter showed themselves to their advantage this summer to the great delight of French spectators. With 64 medals at the Olympic Games and 75 at the Paralympic Games, the record haul of French athletes and para-athletes kept France in suspense.

Teddy RinerLéon Marchand, the Lebrun brothers, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot have confirmed their presence. Many other Olympic athletes will be celebrated this Saturday in the same way as para-athletes such as Sandrine Martinet, Gloria Agblemagnon, or Alexis Hanquinquant. Volunteers and organizers of the Games will also be honored during this parade.

Schedule and program

Hostilities will begin at 4 p.m. The parade will set off on the Champs-Élysées and go up the “most beautiful avenue in the world” towards the Place de l’Étoile where a protocol ceremony will be held from 6:30 p.m. with the rekindling of the flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macronwill then present medals before a concert begins at 9 p.m. for a duration of 2 hours with some of the artists who performed during the four ceremonies of these Paris Games.

“Surprises” and “spectacular elements” are also expected, as announced by Thierry Reboul, director of ceremonies for the Games. A particularly spectacular element of the evening will be the projection of images on both sides of the Arc de Triomphe. This staging will undoubtedly remind many of the celebrations of the victory of the French football team at the 1998 World Cup, thus creating a bridge between two historic moments in French sport.

Thierry Reboul also promises a show that will be a sort of artistic and musical “best of” of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. At 11pm a “DJ Set” will close the evening. In total, no less than 70,000 people are expected to experience this event. The free ticket office opened on Wednesday and was stormed. The parade of Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be followed live on France 2 and TF1 on television and live commentary on the Linternaute website.
