Men’s Superpesis 3rd final on Saturday on TV2 from 14:45.

In the men’s Superpesis final series, there has never been a 0–2 defeat to a 3–2 situation and the championship. At least in theory, Manse PP has a chance for a historic trick.

At least in terms of the level of play, because in the previous two games, Manse has offered tough resistance to the perennially successful Jymy of Sotkamo. In the end, however, the small margins have turned in Jymy’s direction.

– The situation doesn’t sound easy, but all the records have been made to be broken, Mansen locksmith Juha Puhtimäki stated Radio Suomen Urheiluilla on Thursday.

Small margins

Both even finals have been decided in a super innings. In the previous match at Sotkamo’s home field, the people of Tampere won the opening period with a score of 5–2.

Homer of all time Roope Korhonen came on in the seventh inning, hitting three runs.

In Puhtimäki’s opinion, for example, the previous match was almost completely under Mansen’s control. However, he demands accuracy from his team.

– The level of the game is quite good enough to win games at this point. A certain precision and hardness at the right moments have been the things that would have been needed in both games.

Puhtimäki admits that the experienced Korhonen has been good as usual in tough places. However, Manse could have been more blunt in the decision points.

– In the first game, the biggest problem was that we couldn’t hit the man home. In the second match, the game was in control until the last inning of the second period.

– Then even before Roope hit, there were a couple of small naps that made it possible for Roope to even hit. At those points, you have to be more precise so that you don’t let Roope get hit, Puhtimäki opens.

Baby life keeps you busy

At the end of August, Puhtimäki became the father of a little girl. However, according to STT, the first days after birth did not go in the best possible way.

Amniotic fluid had entered the baby’s lungs, which was removed as soon as possible.

– After that, a deviation was noticed in the values. That started an almost two-week research period, because the doctors wanted to find out what could be the cause of that deviation. Although the uncertainty hit hard, it was a relief to know that the girl’s life was not in danger.

Fortunately, however, the situation has eased. On Thursday of last week, Puhtimäki got his daughter home.

– It was a great feeling to have him home. Examinations revealed that everything is fine, and the daughter is doing well. Now I’m gradually getting used to my father’s everyday life. I’m learning new things every day and I’m looking forward to what the future will bring.

The Superpesis finals are played on weekends, so Puhtimäki has had plenty of time for her little girl on weekdays.

– It hasn’t been long for me, Putkimäki laughed at Urheiluilla about his everyday life as a baby.

For young players, a long break can be challenging instead.

– Yes, those weeks are sometimes long, and sometimes you have to think about how to spend that time. For younger players, I have given advice to try to forget about nesting for at least two days. If you start thinking too much, you may have too many thoughts.

– In terms of physics, it’s worth going to the beginning of the week. Work with your body to recover from the doubles week and at the same time be able to prepare for the next one, Puhtimäki instructs.

Red-Black?

Known as a tough baseball person, Puhtimäki has played at the top level of the sport for almost 20 years. The 39-year-old player born in Ilmajoki has been rumored to join any club next year.

Among other things, he has been taken back to the ranks of Joensuu Maila. Recently, Puhtimäki has been connected to the ranks of Puna-Musti of Helsinki, who have risen to the top spot.

– I have heard 5-6 addresses in the last six months. The horsemen’s information office has been really busy this fall. Let’s see which of the information agencies is correct. Let people get excited, Puhtimäki says.
