    During the night of Saturday, a fire started at a school in Åstorp.

    On site, the police were able to establish that someone had started a fire in one of the preschool’s rooms with the help of a firework piece.

  • Woman stole taxi in Västervik

    A taxi driver was supposed to help a customer out of the car in Västervik at 01:00 on Saturday night.

    Then the taxi was stolen.

    Just over an hour later, the car was found by the police on a cycle path at the height of Almvik, around 15 kilometers outside the city centre.

    A woman in her 20s was arrested on the spot and is now suspected of drug possession, carelessness in traffic, illegal driving and drunken driving.

  • Several car fires in Umeå

    The emergency services have been dispatched to five different locations in central Umeå after several cars caught fire during the night of Saturday.

    – There were several alarms close together. Everyone has been in the center of the city, says Alexandra Norén, alarm and control operator at the rescue service.

    It is unclear what caused the fires.

    – Some have stood in carports and some have stood near a building. At one point, smoke has spread into an apartment, says Alexandra Norén.

    A 35-year-old man was injured in a suspected stabbing in connection with a Max restaurant in Jönköping during the night of Saturday.

    – He will be taken to hospital, says Oscar Öster, commanding officer at the police.

    The police have started a preliminary investigation into attempted serious assault. A man in his 20s has been arrested.

  • Villa in flames – police investigate crime

    A two-story villa in northern Örebro started to burn heavily on Friday evening.

    – It will burn to the ground, but there are no known injuries. Nobody seems to have been home, says Jens auf der Heide, officer on duty at the police.

    The alarm came in to the rescue service at 10:10 p.m. and at most six fire engines were on the scene.

    The police have started a preliminary investigation into public negligence.

  • Man dead – hit by several cars

    A man died at 22.30 on Friday evening in a traffic accident on national highway 40 in Bottnaryd in Jönköping municipality.

    – Several cars have run over the man who had ended up on the road. Our theory is that he drove a four-wheeler but went off it and landed on the road, says Lars-Göran Nilseryd, officer on duty at the police.

  • SAS flight forced to land – two abducted by police

    An SAS plane on its way to Arlanda has been forced to land in Copenhagen.

    Several police officers came on board and took a man and a woman out.

    – It was a threatening situation, says a witness.

    SAS states that the passengers behaved “unruly”.

    – They have behaved unacceptable on board, but I don’t have much more information. They have decided to go down when it suits, in this case Copenhagen, where they were met by the police, says press spokesperson Rikard Steinholtz.

    The plane is expected to take off towards Stockholm shortly, SAS stated at 11.30pm.

  • New case of bluetongue: “Important to follow”

    The Swedish Agricultural Agency alerted on Friday that a case of bluetongue had been detected on a farm in Uddevalla.

    Now another case has been found on a cattle in Halland, states the State Veterinary Institute.

    The spread concerns a variant called BTV-3 and recently it was found to have spread to our neighboring countries Norway and Denmark.

    Bluetongue affects ruminants such as cattle, sheep and goats, states the Swedish Agency for Agriculture.

    The Swedish Agency for Agriculture urges pet owners to contact a veterinarian if they show symptoms.

    – Although the disease is no longer fought in the same way as it was done in 2008 when mandatory vaccination was carried out, it is important to follow the outbreak’s development by examining animals with symptoms of bluetongue, says state veterinarian Erika Chenais.

  • Person to hospital after climbing accident

    One person has been injured in connection with a climbing accident in Nyköping.

    – We have been out and helped to load a person but cannot give you any details, says Ludwig Tejler, duty officer at the rescue service.

  • UNRWA employee killed in the West Bank

    A person working for the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has been killed in the West Bank.

    The employee “was shot and killed on the roof of his house by a sniper,” according to a statement from Unrwa, which states that it is the first time in over ten years that an employee has been killed in the West Bank.

    On Thursday, six UNRWA staff were killed when two airstrikes hit a school building in Nuseirat, Gaza. According to the agency, it was the highest number of personnel killed on a single occasion so far during the war.

  • Swedish diplomats return to North Korea

    From now on, the Swedish diplomats are once again in place in Pyongyang in North Korea.

    Since the 2020 pandemic, they have been placed in Stockholm due to restrictions.

    But after four years, the restrictions in North Korea have been lifted.

    “With the re-establishment, the embassy’s operations will return to the situation that applied before the pandemic,” writes the Foreign Ministry in a press release.

  • Two arrested in Skellefteå – believed to have planned an explosion

    Two men have been arrested on suspicion of preparing for public destruction in Skellefteå.

    The men were arrested after they were stopped in a vehicle on Thursday evening. After the check, the police searched a residence.

    Objects were found there that led the police to suspect that the men may have planned an explosion.
