Unicredit, ECB OKs First Tranche Buyback of 1.7 Billion

ZES UniCredit and PwC Italia enter into an agreement

(Telestock) – UniCredit has received the ECB’s approval to execute the first part of the 2024 share buyback programme for up to EUR 1.7 billion.

The approval was based on the financial information provided by the Company, which demonstrated its solidity even in stress scenarios.

UniCredit’s CET1 ratio, at 16.2% as of June 30, 2024, already reflects this distribution.

Together with the proposed interim dividend for 2024 and the 2023 distributions already executed this year, the distribution in calendar year 2024 will reach approximately €10 billion, representing a total return in excess of 16%, exclusively through capital generation and therefore without affecting CET1. This confirms UniCredit’s ability to provide shareholders with attractive and sustainable returns while maintaining capital strength.

The start of the share buyback, for which all relevant approvals have been received, is expected as soon as possible, subject to market conditions.
