Tech giant Apple is activating the activation lock feature with iOS 18 to prevent stolen iPhones from being disassembled.
In its statement on this matter, the company said: conveying: “Apple will also add Activation Lock to iPhone parts to prevent stolen iPhones from being disassembled. Designed at the request of customers and law enforcement, this feature prevents the reactivation of lost or stolen iPhones. Aims to reduce iPhone theftsIf a device in repair detects that a supported part was taken from a device with Activation Lock or Lost Mode enabled, calibration options for that part will be restricted.” Apple’s general summary for iOS 18 is as follows: “Apple has previewed the much-anticipated iOS 18 update, which includes more customization options, the biggest redesign of the Photos app yet, new ways for users to manage their inbox in the Mail app, Messages over Air, and more.

Users will be able to organize apps and widgets across all available space on the Home Screen, customize buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center. Their photo library is automatically organized into a new, single view in the Photos app, and new helpful collections give you easy access to favorites.
The Mail app uses on-device smarts to categorize emails and simplify the inbox. And iMessage gets new text effects. Powered by the same groundbreaking satellite features found on iPhone, users can now communicate with Messages via satellite when cellular or Wi-Fi is not available.”
