Svennis last wish is denied

Svenni’s last rest was exactly the party that the now-deceased football coach wanted. Inspired by the Sampdoria president Paolo Mantovani – who passed away during Eriksson’s time at the club – Svennis wanted a happy event.

“Today we have tried to the best of our ability to recreate what he wanted,” said the daughter Lina Eriksson in a speech at the homestead.

She and the brother Johan Eriksson also took the opportunity to thank all those who came to pay their respects Sven-Göran Eriksson.

— He didn’t want it to be a sad ceremony. He wanted it to be happy with lots of music, humor and celebration. He wanted a party, said Lina Eriksson.

That’s exactly what happened – and the day ended with Värmland delicacies such as motti and pork, mollusks and coffee.

Johan Eriksson also thanked all the international guests who traveled to Värmland.

— As you have noticed, it is not the easiest place to get to, but it is father’s place in the world, he said.

Among those who traveled long distances were among others David Beckhamthe ex-partner Nancy Dell’Olio, Roy Hodgson and representatives from both Lazio and Benfica.

— He was a gentleman. He didn’t just earn the respect of our fans—he earned the respect of the entire league. For us it was obvious to be here today, says the Portuguese António Oliveira who worked together with Svennis in Benfica.

Svenni’s last wish was that his ashes should be scattered in Lake Fryken. But it won’t be like that. You must not spread the ashes in Fryken, says the agent Boss Gustavsson to TT.

It is in a newly released Prime documentary that Svennis tells about his wish to have the ashes scattered in the lake, which is located near his home Björkefors manor house.

“It feels like home,” he says in the documentary.

But the Swedish regulations stop there. Instead, the ashes will be spread on land, according to Bosse Gustavsson.

“We have received permission from the county administration and landowners to spread it over land adjacent to where he lived,” says Gustavsson after the funeral.
