Diablo 4 will soon have its first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, and Season 6. You could already test the changes on the PTR and read about them in the patch notes. However, Blizzard did not list some of the new features, including major improvements to the quality of play.
What changes with Vessel of Hatred?
These are the secret changes: Most and most of the biggest innovations are already in the official patch notes for Patch 2.0, which brings Season 6 and the features of Vessel of Hatred into the game.
However, there were further changes on the PTR:
There have been major changes, especially with the super bosses. Their loot and strength are now determined by the new difficulty levels and there are only the tortured versions. Summons are also easier: you need less material and Stygian stones have been completely removed.
Additionally, bosses now count toward the Tree of Whispers bounties, giving you more loot without any extra effort. There are also small changes like new mounts and reworked crates and chests.
Our colleagues at wowhead have compiled all the changes in detail. However, there is a small error here: you cannot wear crafted mythics at level 1, which Community Manager Adam Fletcher has already corrected. Remember that these are PTR changes and may be changed before release.
Great for leveling alts
With a few exceptions, the changes have been well received by players so far. The changes to completion in particular have been met with praise. It is “wonderful” that you no longer have to go through the annoying intermediate step via the alchemist (via Reddit).
The changes to the bosses are also a lot of fun. Easier summons and, above all, less grinding for Stygian Stones as well as the possibility of killing bosses as whispers are “the best changes ever.” Getting more loot is something everyone is happy about anyway.
What is not well received, however, is the removal of the campfire from the character screen. For many players, this is simply part of the atmosphere and is reminiscent of the days of Diablo 2.
In any case, the changes in Season 6 are being viewed rather critically at the moment. In the test, it was generally much harder to get good loot and the completion system punishes players with randomness. Blizzard will probably work on this and take the feedback from the PTR into account: the test for the first expansion is over, but many players are dissatisfied with what they have already seen.
