(Telestock) – Stellantis he communicated to the unions that the production of the electric 500 at Mirafiori will suffer a suspension of activities until October 11th. The measure – explains the company – is made necessary by the current lack of orders linked to the trend of the electricity market in Europe, which is in deep difficulty for all European producers.
“Stellantis is firmly committed to ensuring continuity of all its facilities and activities and is working hard to manage and reach this difficult phase in the best possible way of the transition”, assures a note from the Turin company that recalls having invested 100 million to increase the production of the Fiat 500e and plans to start production of the New 500 Hybrid in 2026.
Although the company has reiterated the centrality of the Turin plant, the the climate is not the best among the unionswho find themselves having to face another period of redundancy fund. “The redundancy fund continues inexorably with yet another production stoppage of an entire month. Instead of announcements of new production, those about the redundancy fund continue”, complains Gianni Mannori, head of Mirafiori for the Fiom of Turin.
“We ask the Government and Stellantis to stop with their mutual harmful controversies since the consequences of this affect the workers and the industry of our country”, commented in a joint note Fim-Fiom-Uilm-Fismic-UglM-AqcfR, adding “for no reason should the public funds allocated for Termoli they must be distracted: the industrial project must go forward”.
“We ask Stellantis and ACC to keep your promisesto confirm the gigafactory project” of Termoli – they say – which “is not only essential for the future of the workers, but of the entire territory”.
