It distinguishes Ica’s various stores

What differentiates the various stores is above all where they are located, their size and assortment.

Ica Maxi stores, for example, are usually located near busy locations and urban areas, so that customers can easily and conveniently get there.

At Ica Maxi, they want to be able to offer as wide a range as possible, while Ica Nära stores focus more on bread and fresh fruit and vegetables.

Every Ica store in Sweden is owned and operated by an Ica dealer. News24 has previously written about the criminal ICA traders who continue to work, despite being convicted of serious crimes.

In Fagersta, it has now been decided that users of the home service will be allowed to start shopping for food digitally and have food bags delivered. In Fagersta it has been decided that all food must be bought from Coop in Fagersta.

This means that those who due to illness, age or disability need home care in Fagersta will no longer be allowed to shop at Ica.

– We started with digital purchases last semester and are gradually increasing with more and more groups. The goal is for everyone to receive it before the end of the year, says the social manager Ingrid Holmgren to Fagersta-Posten.

Ingrid Holmgren believes that online shopping can be good for users, as they get to take part in the store’s entire range and can get inspiration.

But not all users are happy with the decision.

The decision stirs up emotions

A woman in her 80s has been shopping at Ica for years, and has been satisfied with it.

She thinks that she is now forced to shop at Coop is a scandal.

– I don’t want to change, the woman says Fagersta-Posten.

In the past, the woman has been able to send a shopping list to the staff, who then do the shopping for her and at the same time help with other small matters, such as depositing, bringing sorting and posting letters.

Only Coop’s platform is safe enough

With the grocery shopping now being done online, she can no longer get help with the other.

– Only Coop can offer the secure platform. But we would like other suppliers to be able to offer the platform, such as Ica or Willys, says Ingrid Holmgren Fagersta-Posten.
