Several changes have taken place in the airline industry recently, not least at Arlanda.
Since the summer of 2023, it has been possible for travelers to bring large bottles of liquid through security, but this is no longer the case.
As of September 1, 2024, a new EU decision came into force that affected the rules for carry-on liquids at the security check at Terminal 5 at Arlanda.
Instead of being allowed to bring large bottles of liquid with you, you can now only bring liquid containers with a maximum of 100 milliliters in hand luggage at all European airports, something News24 previously written about.

Even the prices for air travel change. Recently, it was announced that the government is choosing to scrap the flight tax as of July 1, 2025.
— We do it to promote air traffic throughout the country and thereby improve accessibility throughout the country. It will simply be reduced ticket prices, said the group leader of the Sweden Democrats Linda Lindberg at a press conference on September 3.
The scrapped tax will make all plane tickets cheaper, but how much cheaper a ticket will be depends on the length of the trip.
Within Europe, the flight tax has been a surcharge of SEK 76 based on this year’s tax rate according to the Swedish Tax Agency, while trips to the USA entailed a tax of SEK 315. These surcharges will therefore disappear on 1 July next year, making the tickets kinder to the wallet.

Therefore, flights are 27 percent cheaper on Friday
According to a survey by the travel booking company Momondo, which Göteborgs-Posten has seen, tickets for flights departing on Friday are a whopping 27 percent cheaper than on other Fridays during the year.
The reason? Friday the 13th – unlucky day. One in ten Swedes told Momondo that they would never book a trip departing on that date, which has caused prices to drop to lower levels than usual.
– For those Swedes who can ignore the rumor of bad luck, there are savings to be made this Friday the 13th, says Per Christiansentravel expert at Momondo, in a press release according to GP.
