“Going to push this further”

She is perhaps Sweden’s youngest cinema owner. 21-year-old Tilde Edin has been running the cinema in Tierp for a month now.
Despite her young age, she did not hesitate when she was offered to take over the business.
– I felt the whole time that this is what I will do, I will push this further, Tilde tells Efter fem.

21-year-old Tilde Edin was working extra at the cinema threatened with closure in Tierp when she was asked if she would consider taking over the business, which UNT previously reported on.

– I called my mother immediately after the cards had been laid on the table. We said that there was a lot to think about, but that I would push it further, that’s how it has to be if it is otherwise closed, says the 21-year-old.

That’s how she will make the cinema flourish

At the same time that Tilde has just taken over the operations in Tierp, there is a cinema death in the country as it becomes increasingly common to stream films at home from the TV sofa. But nothing has stopped the young entrepreneur. Broadening the business and showing current films, just like in the bigger cities, should attract the inhabitants of Tierp to the cinema.

– This weekend we had a sing-along concert here. There was a band that came and played a sing-along tribute to Lasse Berghagen, so we can do it here to broaden the business and attract even those who don’t want to watch movies, she says.

As a 21-year-old, being an entrepreneur in the cultural revolution can only sound like a full-time occupation, but in Efter fem, Tilde tells us that she is rowing with the cinema alongside her full-time job.

– I have an employee who helps me here now, but I work full-time alongside the cinema, says the 21-year-old.
