Winter sports: Ski jumping pair star Daniel-André Tande is too scared – retires

– After the terrible fall in Planica just over three years ago, I have now had to admit that the fear of throwing myself down the ski jump may have been greater than I first experienced. Therefore, it feels right to end the jumping career, says Tande.

It was in the winter of 2021 that Tande crashed badly in his test jump in Slovenian Planica. He broke his collarbone and was placed in an induced coma, but suffered no life-threatening injuries. The Norwegian returned to competition eight months after the crash and took a big win in Holmenkollen 2022.

Tande has a WC gold in ski flying from 2018 and team gold in 2016, 2018 and 2020. In addition, the 30-year-old has an Olympic gold in team from 2018.

Tande has also won two of the biggest competitions in ski jumping, in Holmenkollen and in Garmisch Partenkirchen.

– I have fulfilled many dreams in my career, says Tande.
