Halloween is coming early this year! If you are a fan of the series Wednesday and you’re eagerly awaiting Season 2, you may be having trouble finding shows that capture the same gothic yet relatively lighthearted style of Netflix’s adaptation of The Addams Family. But this week, a new movie is hitting the big screen that should please fans of this kind of universe.

The 66-year-old American filmmaker returns to his first loves and his first successes after less successful forays into live-action adaptations of Disney cartoons (Alice in Wonderland And Dumbo Monica Bellucci’s companion now returns to Gothic aesthetics, ghosts and monsters, but also to societal criticism with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

This second installment featuring the prankster demon’s antics takes place several years after the film released 36 years ago. The Deetz family returns to Winter River after a terrible tragedy. Lydia is now the mother of a rebellious teenager and still haunted by the memory of Beetlejuice. But chaos quickly returns when her daughter accidentally opens a portal to the afterlife, allowing the demon to return to wreak havoc.

Fans of Wednesday will find in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice the inimitable style of Tim Burton (who directed some episodes of the Netflix series), his unique humor, as well as his fantastic universe. In addition, we find an actress of Wednesday in the cast, since Jenna Ortega plays Lydia’s daughter here. She played opposite the cast of the first episode released in 1988, including Winona Ryder (Stranger Things), Michael Keaton (Batman, Birdman) and Catherine O’Hara (Welcome to Schitt’s Creek). Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is available exclusively in theaters from September 11, 2024.
