Team gets 3 eliminated pros, beats Faker and Chovy, wins the strongest league and goes to the Worlds as favorite

Surprise in League of Legends e-sports. Actually, it was thought that in the 2024 Summer Split in the South Korean league LCK everything would come down to a final between T1 and Gen G., between Faker and Chovy. Because the two are considered the greatest LoL players in their country and perhaps the world. But in the end, a completely different team is laughing.

Who was the favorite to win the LCK in summer 2024? Actually, Gen G.’s team was the clear favorite to win the season in South Korea and to go to the Worlds as the favorite for the world championship title.

Because Gen G. is excellently staffed: They have our lord and savior Chovy in the mid lane, the mighty Canyon in the jungle and the young Peyz in the bot lane. Gen G. has strengthened itself excellently for 2024. In the regular season they played 17-1.

If they didn’t become champions, then T1 would surely do so, with the legendary Faker and his team, who won the 2023 World Championship and are revered by a generation of LoL players around the world, including the monster Keria.

But neither of them ultimately became champions in the LCK.

Hanwha Life surprisingly becomes champion in the LCK

Who became champion in the LCK? Hanwha Life Esports have done it.

They did lose a game against Gen G. along the way and slipped into the losers bracket.

But they defeated T1 and Faker twice with 3-0 and 3-1.

With their second win against T1, they earned a place in the finals, where they defeated Gen G. in an epic battle 3-2.

Impressive cheers:

Team brought in 3 discarded professionals from Gen G before the season.

This is what is special: At HLE, the veteran Peanut plays in the jungle and with this win he won his 7th championship in the LCK. He did this with 5 different teams.

The young midlaner Zeka (21) won his 1st LCK title and became MVP.

The most exciting thing, however, is that 3 members of Hanwha Life were still playing for Gen G. last year. Top laner Doran, jungler Peanut and supporter Delight were all still with Gen G. in 2023, failed to meet expectations and were replaced by supposedly better players.
