Google lost the legal battle against the EU for fines

The search engine company Google has lost its battle in the last court instance for the 2.4 billion euro fines that the EU imposed on it for abusing its leading market position in online marketplaces.

According to the EU Commission, Google unfairly discriminated against competitors in the search results when it favored its own shopping places at the top of the search results and directed users to its own Google Shopping service.

Google says it is disappointed by the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union. It says that it already corrected its operations in 2017 in accordance with the commission’s recommendations.
