On Monday, the Israeli army stopped a UN convoy that was on its way to Gaza, the representative of UNRWA, which helps Palestinian refugees, says.
Israel stopped the convoy, even though the UN had agreed with the soldiers in advance for UN personnel to travel to the Gaza Strip.
High Commissioner of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East Philippe Lazzarini writes in X that the convoy was on its way to the northern parts of Gaza to deliver polio vaccine to children.
The vaccines were to be given to Palestinian children today, Tuesday.
According to Lazzarini, the Israeli army threatened the UN staff and blocked the movement of the convoy for more than eight hours.

In addition, Israeli army bulldozers damaged UN vehicles, Lazzarini said.
The convoy managed to return to the UN base safely on Monday.
