Blizzard officially explains how to best play WoW solo – how good are the tips?

The War Within is the latest expansion for World of Warcraft and playing solo has never been so easy. Blizzard has obviously recognized this and published a guide that explains how to best tackle the MMORPG World of Warcraft alone. MeinMMO has taken a closer look at the tips.

How well does solo gaming work?

These are Blizzard’s tips: The developers have published a post on the official blog with tips for solo gaming. There you will find information about the general functions of WoW as well as the new features in The War Within.

The guide is apparently aimed at new players who are just starting out with WoW. Blizzard recommends:

  • the Isle of Exiles for levels 1-10, then Dragonflight for levels 10-70 and then the entry into The War Within
  • Follower dungeons for leveling up to complete dungeon quests
  • Professions to get some bonus experience
  • There are also tips on how to leave chat channels or ignore players and further links to guides etc.
  • Blizzard also praises the Depths, the new, short solo dungeons from The War Within that you complete with an NPC companion. But how useful are these tips?

Blizzard’s Solo Guide – Good for beginners, but not efficient

If you’re completely new to WoW, Blizzard’s solo guide is pretty useful. The tips aren’t aimed at choosing the fastest and most efficient route, but rather at getting you more familiar with the game and its features.

The follower dungeons alone are ideal for this, as you can get to know your class and try out different roles without being put under any pressure. Since World of Warcraft has now become so complex that even MyMMO demon Cortyn needs add-ons, this kind of “taking by the hand” is definitely advisable.

However, if you want to level up solo as quickly as possible, these tips will not help you much. The best expansion for leveling is still Warlords of Draenor, even as things stand, because you can complete bonus objectives for a lot of experience without much effort. Ideally, you should mix WoD with Dragonflight so that you have some starting equipment for The War Within at the end.

In The War Within, it is easiest to just complete dungeons. This way, you can get characters to level 80 within a few hours – but you will miss the story if you don’t know it yet. But we have known for years that such tips are useful: 67% of you see WoW as a solo game, only 10% prefer groups
