Richard Sjögren wants to quit smoking.
To make it, he asks the whole of Eslöv for help. He urges everyone to refuse to offer or sell him cigarettes.
– On Tuesday, I smoke my last cigarette, he says in After five Sunday.
In order to really reach his goal of quitting smoking, Richard Sjögren in Eslöv calls on everyone in town to help him. No one should offer or sell cigarettes to him. He has put out the call in a local Eslövs group, which he helped start, with 12,000 members.
After his participation in Sunday’s After Five, the pressure is even greater.
– You have made it a little more difficult for me to continue, now I don’t stop smoking with Eslöv, but with all of Sweden, he says.
Keep your eyes peeled
The smoking ban begins on Tuesday morning. The post has already started to have an effect. Out in town, people have wished you luck and said “we have our eyes on you”.
– It feels quite ok, but I won’t stop until Tuesday. Then I start hard with the gym.
Why did you write in the group that you want to quit?
– To make it difficult for myself. Our group has done a lot in Eslöv and helped people, that’s what the group is all about. I created the group for my friends and we have helped people with many things in Eslöv. Now I have turned it around and am asking for help. And more people may also stop smoking, he says.
Can inspire more
His posts have made more people want to quit smoking.
– Some have written that they will start on September 20. I have an iron will, so I won’t smoke again. Then I set myself a goal to start running and there are people who want to keep up. Now I start a little more intensively, so I have other things to think about. At 07.15 on Tuesday I smoke my last cigarette, he says.
