This is how Harris and Trump are charging up for the super debate

This is how they load up for the super debate • “Never been in the same room” • Hillary Clinton’s tips

When the two meet in a 90-minute televised debate in Philadelphia next week, it will be the first time they have met at all.

– They have never been in the same room, there will be an extra dynamic. It is a huge interest to see them on stage. There is only a short time until the presidential election and a lot is at stake, says Ginna Lindberg.

Ahead of the debate, Vice President Kamala Harris has locked herself in a hotel for five days, where she practices role-playing with adviser Lee Strasberg – who, dressed in a suit and long tie, will portray Donald Trump.

Trump, for his part, has made a point of not practicing. His preparations are more improvised and are called “political time”. Sometimes his employees sit and ask questions.

During the live debate, the microphones will be muted for whoever is not speaking at the time. The debaters are not allowed to bring notes or scripts. Only paper, pencil and a bottle of water are allowed.

Wanted microphones on

– Harris would have liked the microphones to have been on, her campaign would have liked to see a moment where Trump enters an aggressive debate style. They could use that against him, to show how she is more like the president, says Ginna Lindberg.

Bringing out Trump’s most self-destructive side is Harris’ goal.

“She should not be a bait. She’s going to make him a bait,” says Hillary Clinton, who is the woman who last debated against the former president, according to the report The New York Times.

“When I said he was a puppet for Putin, he just sputtered on stage. I think that’s an example of how you make him nervous,” Clinton continues.

Hard to hide contempt

Donald Trump’s advisers are aware that there is a risk that he will be portrayed as aggressive – just as he did during his first debate against Joe Biden in 2020.

His advisers also worry that he won’t be able to hide his disdain for Harris. Trump thinks Harris is unintelligent, his advisers reportedly said.

Trump is also said to have used misogynistic language to describe her.

– He will call her a communist, Marxist and fascist. He will try to portray her as an extreme left-liberal, and that she is a continuation of the Biden administration, a challenge for her as she will try to appear as a new, energetic and fresh alternative, at the same time as she is the sitting vice president, says Ginna Lindberg.
