Romania: Russian drone violated Romanian airspace again | News in brief

It is not yet clear whether the Russian plane fell on Romanian soil.

According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, a Russian drone violated Romania’s airspace again last night, when Russia carried out another drone attack on Ukraine.

The Russian drone strikes targeted Ukrainian civilian targets and port infrastructure along the Danube River, Romania says.

When Romania detected a Russian plane in the country’s airspace, Romanian F-16 fighters took off and Romania informed its NATO allies about the situation.

In addition, the Romanian authorities sent an alert text message to the residents of the eastern part of the country because of the airplane.

According to Romania, preliminary information suggests that there could be a “hit area” in an uninhabited area near the village of Periprava. The matter is currently being investigated.

Romania demands Russia to stop the drone strikes that are escalating the volatile situation.

Russian drones have repeatedly landed on Romanian territory. In July, the Finnish Hornets made an inspection flight in Romania due to a similar situation.
