Kevin Lindskougborn on August 10, 1992 in Trelleborg, is a Swedish ice hockey goaltender with a long career behind him, both in Sweden and internationally.
He has played in Swedish clubs such as Malmö Redhawks, Rögle BK and Björklöven – and played internationally in, among others, the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the USHL, the Austrian AlpsHL and the Polish league.
In 2023 he signed a contract with Glasgow Clan in the EIHL. However, in April 2024, Lindskoug was suspended after testing positive in a doping control in connection with a loss against Dundee Stars in February. Traces of cocaine had been detected in his urine sample and the hockey goaltender was suspended for four years, which you can read more about The Norwegian Sports Confederation’s website.

Now Kevin Lindskoug appears in an interview with The evening paper and talks about his mental illness, the self-medication of drugs – and coming out as trans.
He says in the interview that he does not identify as gay and that he has had a girlfriend for most of his adult life.
He prefers the English word crossdresser: a person who sometimes uses the gender expression of another gender. He wants to look feminine – but that doesn’t necessarily mean he wants to operate on his body to be more feminine.
The feeling has been in him for a long time.
– I had interests that many girls have, make-up and fashion, painting my nails. I felt a hint of something feminine. I had a girlfriend and could enter her world, so it worked. I was quite happy, although it felt… abnormal, says Kevin Lindskoug to Aftonbladet.
Lindskoug: “I have gender dysphoria and self-medicated”
The former hockey pro started moving outdoors in women’s clothing during the summer of 2023.
That same fall, he signed for a new club in Poland, but after a Halloween party where he came dressed as a woman, rumors began to spread that Lindskoug was gay – and he was fired.
During a period of dark thoughts, a tangled private life and blackmail, drugs became a refuge. He suspects that someone finally gossiped about him that day in February.

Lindskoug has a hard time understanding how he could be sentenced to such a long suspension, but the time for the appeal to the National Sports Board ran out this summer. He pleads for understanding:
– My urine test must show that I did not take the cocaine in connection with the match. And I promise to tell exactly everything to whoever asks. Please give me a punishment equal to what I have done. I abused. I have gender dysphoria and self-medicate, he tells Aftonbladet.
