A 15-year-old boy was detained on probable cause on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated weapons offense at a school in Trångsund south of Stockholm on Wednesday, writes Dagens Nyheter.
The suspect denies wrongdoing.
“I have assessed that there are currently exceptional reasons for detention despite the suspect’s young age,” says prosecutor Kajsa Lindberg in a press release.
The detention hearing was held behind closed doors in the Stockholm District Court on Saturday afternoon, writes DN.
The teenager is a student at the school where he is suspected of having shot another 15-year-old student. The school’s principal Kaj Majuri has previously stated that the boy has undergone surgery and will not have any lasting effects from the incident.
The shooting occurred in a restricted area where no one other than those involved were present.
