The British Prime Minister will visit Ireland for the first time in five years | News in brief

British Prime Minister Keir Starming continues to warm relations with the country’s close neighbors.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer currently visiting Ireland. It is the first time in five years that the British Prime Minister visits the country’s closest neighbor.

The British Prime Minister’s Office describes the visit as a “historic moment in British-Irish relations”. The visit continues the warming of bilateral neighborly relations started by Starmer, after he visited, for example, Germany and France at the end of August.

In Ireland, Starmer was received by the country’s prime minister Simon Harris. The purpose of the visit would be, among other things, to develop the countries’ trade relations, which are already even more mutually significant.

Britain’s relations with its close neighbors, which are all member states of the European Union, cooled during the 14-year reign of the Conservative Party, which was colored above all by the island nation’s contentious exit from the EU.
