It was in the second set that chaos broke out in the semi-finals between world number one Jannik Sinner and 25-ranked Jack Draper.
With the score 4–3 to Draper, the Brit suddenly threw up in the middle of the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium. That forced a brief pause and confusion erupted. Draper dried himself off and resumed the match before the event was again paused as he was forced to change shoes due to sweating.
Injured himself
That wasn’t all. At the change of sides, the Italian Sinner was clearly struggling with an injury and both players received medical attention.
The bizarre images continued a short time later. At 6-5, Draper threw up again.
Sinner eventually took home the match in three straight sets (3–5, 7–6, 6–2).
He now faces Taylor Fritz, who is the first American in a US Open final since 2006, in the fight for the grand slam title.
