DrDisrespect is streaming again, has huge audience demand – protests his innocence when banned from Twitch

Streamer DrDisrespect will return today on September 6, 2024 as a content creator, presumably on YouTube. He announced this in a video clip on X (formerly Twitter). The 42-year-old gaming streamer had taken a break from gaming after it became known that he had exchanged inappropriate messages with a 17-year-old in 2017 and was therefore banned from Twitch.

This is the announcement from DrDisrespect:

Yesterday, September 5th, DrDisrespect uploaded a video to X showing him in a stylized motorboat racing towards an island to suspenseful music. This is a new version of his usual performance, in which he drives through the streets of a fictional city in a Lambo.

Ultimately, in the video, he arrives at the “Arena” where his “Champion’s Club” awaits him. These are all components of the myth that he has built around himself.

The final message: “We’ve only just begun” – it will continue “tomorrow”. It is expected that he will be back in gaming as a content creator today, September 6th. Probably on YouTube, where his channels have been demonetized since June 28th. It is also possible, albeit surprising, that he will stream on Kick.

This was our position on DrDisrespect’s Twitch ban for many years:

Award-winning editor leaves DrDisrespect after 6 years

Which employee did he lose? On September 3, DrDisrespect’s long-time video editor announced (via X) that he was quitting working for the influencer after 6 years. The young man, who goes by “HobbertEdits” on X, was responsible for DrDisrespect’s video appearance and has won awards in the role.

DrDisrespect’s YouTube videos in particular are considered to be extremely well produced and have been repeatedly praised for their high quality. DrDisrespect seems to be losing an important employee.

The editor does not give any reasons for the split, only saying it was time to move on and how proud he was of his work.

One can assume that a video editor who has not had any videos to edit for more than two months will look for something else. And perhaps DrDisrespect can no longer afford or does not want to afford the services of the apparently highly talented man – who complained in 2023 that his income on YouTube was only a fraction of his previous earnings on Twitch.

DrDisrespect returns 74 days after his fall

How long was DrDisrespect away from YouTube? DrDisrespect learned on June 24th that his gaming studio Midnight Society was ending its collaboration with him. Immediately afterward, he announced that he would be taking a break from streaming and “going on vacation.”

If he returns today, he would have been “on vacation” for 74 days.

Why was DrDisrespect gone for so long? For five years, DrDisrespect was a mystery as to why he was banned from Twitch in 2019. But the “solution” to this mystery did not go as DrDisrespect had imagined. Because all these years he had given the impression that he had been banned from Twitch for no reason – because of a business dispute over a high-priced exclusive contract.

When the actual circumstances of his ban gradually came to light on June 22nd, it had serious consequences for the streamer. It was discovered that DrDisrespect had exchanged inappropriate messages with a then 17-year-old via Twitch’s Whisper function in 2017: DrDisrespect explains what kind of messages they were that are said to have led to his Twitch ban

DrDisrespect is live in front of 141,000 viewers

Update 6.9. 12:20: DrDisrespect is actually live again. As expected, he is streaming on YouTube and already has over 141,000 viewers at 9:20 p.m. His channel with 4.6 million subscribers has only been demonetized on YouTube, not blocked.

He’s playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta, but seems depressed when he talks about leaving his gaming studio, which was his ultimate goal.

DrDisrespect says: He didn’t do anything bad, he was framed

In a statement, he says he did not do anything illegal on the platform. He had a dispute with an employee on Twitch, a partner manager, who had “pinned” the scandal on him. The chat messages that led to his ban were harmless and just “banter.”
