Leif Boork’s sudden giant criticism of Armand Duplanti’s super duel – which causes all Swedes to react strongly: “Larvigt!”

Armand Duplantis beat Karsten Warholm in a rumored duel.
But Leif Boork is not impressed.
“Larvigt”, writes the hockey profile.

It all started with a completely ordinary trash talk between two friends at a practice, but developed into a spectacle that the entire athletics world followed with excitement. The meeting between Armand Duplantis was both exciting and a success, but not everyone is completely satisfied.

Hot duel

Armand Duplantis is the greatest pole vaulter of all time, and in recent years there has hardly been a competition that he entered and did not win. This summer he defended his Olympic gold and also broke a new world record in front of packed stands on an unforgettable evening in Paris. But Karsten Warholm has also written a lot of sports history.

He is the all-time best in the 400 hurdles, and even though he didn’t win Olympic gold this summer, he is often ranked high among the greatest in all of athletics right now. He also holds the world record for the distance, and that’s why so many were curious about who would actually draw the longest straw when the Swede and the Norwegian met over 100 meters in Zurich on Wednesday, in connection with this week’s Diamond League competition.

Boork’s criticism

Armand Duplantis ultimately emerged victorious from the heated duel, but there have not only been positive shouts surrounding the spectacle. Many have argued that Warholm and Duplanti’s joint sponsors, Puma and Red Bull, received far too much exposure. At the same time, however, many have said that it was refreshing to see two such big stars meet in a branch they are not used to.

But Leif Boork, high profile in Swedish hockey and former head coach, does not take that side. On X, where he is used to liking both, he now rages against the duel between Duplantis and Warholm, and the fact that Warholm withdrew from the “real” competitions the next day, where Duplantis also revealed that he ” spit all night”.

“Speaking of gimmicks! Duplantis/Warholm. Two ‘bus boys’ who challenge each other for fun! Do you think so? It was business! Wonder what they got? Then one couldn’t play due to injury in the Diamond League the day after. One threw up and was completely exhausted. Larvy! Stop gimmicks in athletics,” writes Boork on X.
