The announcement by London Mayor Sadiq Khan means two boroughs with significant Jewish populations will get a direct line. The reason is that the number of anti-Semitic hate crimes has increased against the residents of the two districts of Golders Green and Stamford Hill.

The bus line is welcomed by Jewish groups, which have worked for 16 years to bring about a direct line.

“Families have told me they were afraid of abuse when they changed the Finsbury Park bus,” Mayor Khan said in connection with the decision.
