The superstar’s huge tribute to Armand Duplantis after the win in the wrong discipline – now says what everyone should hear: “Now the whole world knows”

Armand Duplantis defeated Karsten Warholm.
Now he is praised to the skies – by one of the sport’s greatest.
– Now the whole world knows what I knew, she says.

Armand Duplantis is not only the greatest ever in pole vaulting, where since his breakthrough at a young age he has broken ten world records and won double Olympic gold. He is also a huge multi-talent, and he certainly proved that earlier this week.

The big tribute

After much speculation, it was finally time for Armand Duplantis to show what he’s made of in running. He has always claimed that he is faster than many people think, and that is something he needs to be in order to get up to speed in front of the pole vault mat. But despite that, he was not the favorite in the meeting against Karsten Warholm, who is the world record holder in the 400 meter hurdles.

When the two superstars met over 100 meters in Zurich earlier this week, Mondo won from start to finish, winning in a very impressive time of 10.37. One who is not surprised, however, is one of the sport’s biggest sprint stars on the women’s side, Sha’Carri Richardson, who this summer won Olympic silver in the 100 meters, and gold in the 100×4 relay.

– No, no. I’ve trained around Mondo and I know that he – whatever he does – is a competitive person. He could be great at that too. I have known about it (that he is fast) but now the whole world knows about it, she tells SVT.

“He’s amazing”

Sha’Carri Richardson and Armand Duplantis went to the same college in the US, and over the years have become close friends with the Swedish star.

– Mondo, Mondo, Mondo. Not only is he a great athlete and individual but also a great supporter who is always kind and no matter what happens he is great. He always lets me know that I am good at what I do, she says.

Sha’Carri Richardson believes that if Armand Duplantis just gave it a proper try, he could become a good sprinter.

– I would honestly say that… as I said, he is competitive. So if he just decides to do it, I think he could have become a very good sprinter, she says.
