Azerbaijan and Armenia are about to reach an agreement! “80 percent has been agreed upon”

Aliyev attended the Ambrosetti Forum, held every year at the beginning of September in the town of Cernobbio on the shores of Lake Como in Italy, and gave a speech. Recalling that Azerbaijani lands had been under Armenian occupation for years and that the lands were liberated during the Second Karabakh War, Aliyev said:

“AGREEMENT HAS BEEN REACHED ON 80 PERCENT”

“We can achieve peace in the South Caucasus. When we look at the peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia today, we see that this is possible. Approximately 80 percent of the peace agreement text has been agreed upon. We hope that the negotiations will result in the signing of a peace agreement.”

Referring to his country’s relations with Italy, Aliyev stated that they are strategic allies and that Italy is Azerbaijan’s number one trade partner. Aliyev stated that the trade volume between Azerbaijan and Italy was $16 billion in 2023 and that this figure could increase.

AZERBAIJAN’S NATURAL GAS NEGOTIATIONS WITH EUROPE

Stating that energy security is linked to the national security of countries, Aliyev said, “Azerbaijan provides energy security for 10 countries today. 7 European Union (EU) member countries receive natural gas from Azerbaijan. For this reason, the EU Commission calls Azerbaijan ‘Europe’s gas supplier’ and ‘reliable partner’. We are negotiating with three more European countries on natural gas.”
