WoW The War Within: The Earthen as a playable race

Since the ID change on September 4, 2024, it has been possible to unlock the new playable race from WoW: The War Within, the Earthen, plus the associated traditional armor. MeinMMO tells you what you have to do to achieve this.

What do I need to know about the Earthens? The Earthen are a titan-forged race of living stone, imbued with the essence of Azeroth’s world soul! These ancient inhabitants have only just been freed from the edicts that bound them. With boundless curiosity, the Earthen now venture out to explore the world as allies of the Alliance and Horde.

Since the ID change on September 4, 2024, you can unlock the Earthen as a playable Allied Race from WoW: The War Within, equally for both factions of the MMORPG. Below you will find out how this works in detail and how you can get the associated traditional armor of the dwarf-like race.

How to unlock the Earthen

You must fulfill the following requirements for the Earthen:

  • Complete the launch campaign of WoW: The War Within.
  • Complete all quests that have an “Allied Race: Earthen” icon in the quest text (directly above the quest reward).
  • The meta-achievement “Allied Races: The Earthen” offers you a common thread with its four sub-achievements:

  • “The War Within Campaign”: Complete the expansion’s entire launch campaign, including all four chapters, at maximum level 80.
  • “Mourning Heights”: Start the quest “Before My Departure” from Korgran on the Isle of Dorn (at coordinates 57.4/43) and follow the chain up to and including “The Burden of Duty”.
  • “Broken Tools”: Accept the quest “Discarded and Broken” from Machinist Kittrin (48.2/33.4) in the Echoing Depths and complete it until the follow-up quest “Reforged Destiny”.
  • “Merrix and Steelvein”: This starts in the capital Dornogal, with the quest “How scandalous!” from Aldra (62.6/21.8), until you finally end up at “Evil Business”.
  • If you master the meta-achievement with its four objectives, you can create an Earthen and welcome the Reins of the Slate Ramolith, the Earthen mount, into your collection.

How to unlock the Earthen Heritage Armor

When you reach level 50 with a follower of the Earthen Allied Race, you will receive the “Legacy of the Earthen” achievement and the Earthen Heritage Armor. Only Earthen characters can transmogrify this armor.

Tip: You don’t have to level up by hand. Since The War Within, boosts and race changes also work for the traditional armor of allied races. So you can apply a level 70 boost to your freshly created Earthen, or convert an existing character into an Earthen to immediately secure the achievement and the traditional armor.

After the Dark Iron Dwarves, the Earthen are the second dwarf-like allied race.

    Earthen Classes and Racial Abilities

With your newly earned Earthen, you can pursue the following class careers:

  • hunter
  • magician
  • monk
  • paladin
  • priest
  • Villain
  • shaman
  • Warlock
  • warrior
  • The following racial abilities belong specifically to the Earthen:

  • Azerite Surge: Earthens draw on their inner strength by casting an empowered spell that, when triggered, summons the power of Azerite in a cone in front of them to damage enemies and aid allies.
  • Hyperproductive: Increased Finesse. Finesse increases the chance of receiving additional materials when gathering.
  • Eating minerals: You are always full, but cannot eat food. Eating a gem from Khaz Algar changes the increased value to “Full”.
  • Creature of the Titans: Increases the base armor value of equipped items by 10%.
  • Amazing Wonders: When you gain experience for exploring a location, you receive an additional 200% exploration experience.
  • Community Manager Kaivax announced in the official WoW forum a few hours ago that they wanted to buff some of the racial abilities – and a hotfix has already gone live. Among other things, the saturation effect and the quality of Belga’s gems have been made more effective.
