Athletics: Jakob Ingebrigtsen was beaten again: “Better than expected”

In the Olympics, Ingebrigtsen missed the podium and finished fourth. Tonight, the Norwegian, who had been ill and was considering whether he would even go to Zurich, managed to secure second place in 3.29.52.

– It felt good and I tried to run fast and it was a good race. It went better than expected and when I woke up this morning I felt significantly better than yesterday, says Ingebrigtsen.

Sought redress from the Olympics

Once again, Ingebrigtsen was pitted against the podium trio from the Paris Olympics to seek some form of redress.

The hares were let off with a gap and Ingebrigtsen took over with only Olympic third runner Nuguse on his back after 1,100 meters. Olympic champion Cole Hocker finished third in 3.30.46 while Paris runner-up Josh Kerr was fifth in 3.31.46.

– If I hadn’t been sick, I probably wouldn’t have let the hares go and then I would have had a much easier race and not had it so tough at the end, says Ingebrigtsen.
