After SVT’s review: The minister in a crisis meeting about HVB homes that are sold on Blocket

The minister has reacted strongly to SVT’s review of how HVB homes can be bought and sold on Blocket and other online sites.

– It is disgusting that you can find this kind of business on buying and selling sites. Now it is important that Ivo acts. It is important that the ownership review that takes place is just as thorough when you change owners as when you start a business. That is not the case today, says Camilla Waltersson Grönvall (M).

Waltersson also talked about the police report that came last week that criminal networks can start and run HVB companies. According to Ivo, the meeting with the minister was a continuation of the mission that the authority had already begun.

– It was a conversation regarding the reports that have been about HVB homes. We are working hard to develop our supervision in many ways now, says Peder Carlsson, head of department Ivo.

A: Let the municipalities take over

According to Waltersson Grönvall, they spoke with Ivo, among other things, about four proposals for changes to the law that the government recently put forward. This involves, among other things, that other authorities will be obliged to share information that Ivo needs. The government has also proposed laws on more open information sharing from databases.

Isn’t it the market we have now – where you can make a lot of money on HVB homes – that opens up for unscrupulous players?

– Today, three out of four HVB homes for young people are run by private actors. There are few municipalities that would even manage to take care of this activity, says Waltersson Grönvall (M).

The Social Democrats have previously proposed that the HVB homes should be taken over by the municipalities.

– They cannot be sold on the Block as if it were used cars, says Teresa Carvalho (S), group leader in the labor market committee.
