If you say Beetlejuice three times, you are conjuring up the weird bio-exorcist from the Tim Burton cult film. If you say Michael Keaton once, you are saying a made-up name of the star behind the role. As he explained again now, Keaton thought it up at the time because he is not allowed to use his real name. That’s thanks to another Hollywood legend.

In an interview with US magazine People, Keaton talked about how he whose real name is Michael Douglas. However, the American actors’ union Screen Actors Guild (SAG) had already registered a certain other Michael Douglas (Wall Street) and the talk show host Mike Douglas. And the same name twice was not allowed in the SAG register.
The aspiring star then simply thought up the name Michael Keaton and had himself registered under it.
At the age of 72, Keaton is now considering a decisive career change. In the future, he would like to change the name Michael Keaton Douglas carry.
