She is one of Sweden’s greatest ever winter athletes.
Now Charlotte Kalla is ready for the Master of Masters.
– It will be something very special, she says.
With her 22 Olympic and World Cup medals, Charlotte Kalla is one of Sweden’s most meritorious athletes of all time, and after her breakthrough as an 18-year-old in the Tour de Ski in 2008, she quickly became one of our most popular. Now a few years have passed since Kalla put her skis on the shelf, but she has not immediately left the limelight.
Call in the success program
Among other things, Kalla has had time to be in Let’s Dance, and two years ago the idea was that she would have been in SVT’s hit long-running series Mästarnas Mästare. But then an injury forced her to withdraw from the competition, and last summer she became a mother for the first time.
But now there is good news for all television viewers. Charlotte Kalla is in the new season of the program.
– It was very sour there two years ago when I had to throw in the towel due to injury at the last minute. Now I feel incredibly happy that we will soon be at the point of departure and that we will be able to leave, says Kalla to SVT.
All participants in the Masters of Masters
Above all, Charlotte Kalla is looking forward to meeting all the other participants, and to looking back on her fantastic career.
– What I’m looking forward to most is meeting the other participants and especially the retrospectives. It’s not very often that I take the time to look back and when you sit and follow the Master of Masters at home, you get a lot of emotions, she says.
Charlotte Kalla now also has the chance to become the first female cross-country skier to win the Champion of Champions.
– Right now, I haven’t thought much about how far I will go. Then it’s been so long since I put on the number plate, so I don’t really know how I’ll handle the desire to compete, she says.
The recording will take place in Spain this autumn, and in addition to Charlotte Kalla, the following participants are involved:
Emma Dahlström, freeski
Johan Elmander, soccer
Nilla Fischer, soccer
Thomas Heiderup, kickboxing
Tobias Karlsson, handball
Kalis Loys, basketball
Marcus Nilsson, volleyball
Markus Oscarsson, canoe
