There’s a lot going on for World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary – a whole patch, in fact. The game’s best dungeon is returning as a raid.
World of Warcraft received its 10th expansion this year, is celebrating its 20th birthday, and the entire Warcraft franchise is turning 30. That’s several reasons to celebrate these anniversaries in the game. The developers have now revealed what they have planned for the huge event – and it’s really quite a lot.
The highlight: Probably the most famous and at the same time most notorious dungeon from the vanilla era of WoW returns and becomes a raid.
What kind of raid is this? To celebrate World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary, the developers have decided to bring the old dungeon “Blackrock Depths” back out of obscurity and turn it into a full-fledged, temporary raid.
Blackrock Depths is one of the most famous dungeons in World of Warcraft. The depths were so large that groups often got lost there and you could easily spend an entire evening in the dungeon without seeing everything. No wonder, as the dungeon in its original version had more than 20 bosses and was the size of an entire city.
What kind of raid will it be? Even though many details are still unknown, the main points have already been revealed:
There won’t be a mythical version of the raid, so you can expect the whole experience to be a little easier than a new, modern raid – but that’s hardly surprising for an anniversary.
More about this was revealed in the latest WoWCast:
What else is included in the anniversary? In addition to the new raid, the developers have also announced a whole series of other events and rewards:
How long does the event last? This time, the event will not only last 3 weeks – but the entire duration of the patch. Blizzard wants the event to run “over 2 months”. This should give everyone enough time to earn all the rewards and at the same time not neglect the content of the first season of The War Within.
