A 52-year-old St. Thomas boat operator has been charged with operating a vessel while impaired.

Norfolk OPP marine officers stopped a boat on the Inner Bay of Lake Erie at about 9:23 pm on Sunday, September 1.

The operator was arrested after officers assessed his sobriety.

The accused is also charged with failing to exhibit masthead light and failing to have proof of competency on board a pleasure craft.

Driver charged

On Saturday evening at about 8:30 pm Norfolk OPP officers were called to a single-vehicle collision on Main Street in Port Dover.

Police say no injuries were sustained when a vehicle being driven on Main Street collided with two parked vehicles.

A roadside sobriety assessment was conducted, resulting in a 25-year-old Norfolk County man taken into custody and charged with operation while impaired, and driving without proper headlights.

Intoxicated in public places

Two people are facing charges of being intoxicated in a public place after incidents in Norfolk County.

A 61-year-old Kettle Point resident has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Norfolk OPP received a 9-1-1 call from a Queensway East business in Simcoe at about 7 pm on Friday regarding a man who appeared intoxicated and refused to leave the premises.

At about 6:40 pm on Sunday, Norfolk OPP took a 56-year-old Norfolk County resident into custody on Mechanic Street West in Waterford for being intoxicated in a public place.

Police remind people that under the Liquor License and Control Act 2019 it is illegal to be intoxicated in public places where the general public is invited or allowed access, or in any shared areas of residences with multiple dwellings.

Trucks stolen

Police hope the public can assist in locating two stolen pickup trucks and identifying those responsible for the thefts.

Just after 10 am Saturday police investigated the theft of a black 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck – with stickers on the rear window and a plow mount on the front – taken overnight from a Nichol Street address in Waterford.

Later that morning, police were called to a residence on Old Highway 24 in Waterford to investigate the theft of a white 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck with chrome rims and Metal Mulisha and TEAMLTD stickers on the windshield.

Police say at about 3:52 am two or more suspects arrived at the address in a pickup truck. One of the occupants – at tall male with a thin build, wearing a baseball cap and light-colored T-shirt and pants – exited the vehicle and stole the vehicle from the property.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Norfolk OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
