The DxOMark website regularly establishes its official ranking of smartphones with the best cameras. The number 1 in the latest ranking is a well-known brand!
Are you convinced that your latest Samsung phone or your latest iPhone is the best for taking pictures? Think again! While the latest high-end smartphones from the two industry giants are indeed excellent in this area, they are clearly not the best according to this official ranking.
DxOMark is a research institute specializing in testing tech products. Smartphones, cameras, speakers, and laptops are all devices tested according to strict standards and which allow the institute to regularly establish a ranking of the best products in each category.
The ranking of the best smartphones in photography is regularly shaken up by the arrival of new models that aim to establish themselves as the best in the field. Whether it’s Oppo, Google or Samsung, manufacturers are not lacking in ingenuity and technology to push the boundaries of photography. However, the best smartphone to date according to the DxoMark laboratory is neither a Samsung phone nor an iPhone. It is the latest Huawei Pura 70 Ultra released in April 2024. These two smartphones are at the top of the DxOMark site ranking. The latter is closely followed by Google, Honor and Oppo.
We are therefore seeing some progress from Chinese brands in terms of photography. This is hardly surprising given that manufacturers like Huawei or Honor have established themselves as leaders in the field for several years. The latest Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is even available in France and has Google services via a few small diversions as we were able to try when it was released.
Following the ranking is another Huawei, the P60 Pro, released almost a year ago and available to order in France for nearly 1000 euros. Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro Max, meanwhile, is in seventh place among the best smartphones in photography. You have to go down to 25th place to see the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra appear.
