It was on February 20 that a container arrived at the Port of Gothenburg from Canada. It was checked and staff from the Customs found 500 kilos of cannabis hidden in packages of flooring material.
Prosecutors then made a decision to let the container go on, but under supervision from the Swedish Customs Administration. It was driven to an address outside Norrköping where several people received and began repacking the load.
Additional drugs were found
At lunchtime on February 23, the police task force struck and arrested four people at the premises where the narcotics were handled. Two others were arrested at other locations in Norrköping. During the entire time, the container has been kept under supervision by the Swedish Customs Service’s staff.
During subsequent house searches, additional narcotics, doping agents and weapons were found. Several phones were seized, which, according to the Swedish Customs Service, proves the suspects’ involvement in the drug ring.
The indictment that is now being filed concerns particularly serious drug smuggling, particularly serious drug crime, violation of the Weapons Act and drug crime. A total of six people are suspected of crimes, five of them are from Norrköping.
