Over 160,000 children have been vaccinated against polio in Gaza in three days, according to the World Health Organization’s representative in the Palestinian territories.

    – We have exceeded the estimated target, says WHO’s Rik Peeperkorn during a video conference.

The vaccination is expected to last for at least another ten days. In total, over 500 teams will vaccinate around 640,000 children in the hope of stopping the spread of the virus in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

Polio is highly contagious and spreads mainly among children. In around one in 100 people infected, the disease knocks out nerves in the spinal cord, which can lead to paralysis and death.

The woman was expecting a visit from a handyman who had gained access to the home, and therefore suspects that it is the man she saw on the surveillance camera.

  • Youth severely abused

  • Eskilstuna police on the weekend’s shootings: The picture has become clear

Therefore, safety zones are now being introduced in Eskilstuna, the police announced earlier in the day.

During a press conference held in the afternoon, Mattias Forssten, police area manager Södermanland, says that the police need to get all the tools out of their toolbox.

    – There is an elevated threat picture and a high risk of new serious violent crimes in Eskilstuna after the weekend’s shootings.

The police see that the conflict picture is between district-based networks in Eskilstuna.

    – The course of events has become clear and we have a picture of what has happened. We can start putting the puzzle together, says Camilla Helgesson, head of the investigation section in the Södermanland police area, about the fatal shooting, which took place on Friday in the Årby district.

The man, who was shot in a stairwell on Saturday Lagersberg, is not seriously injured, reports Camilla Helgesson.

    – He has an injury that penetrates the rib and the arm. We are processing information and have seized items that are now being investigated. We are still knocking on doors and there is intensive work going on.

  • Environmental organization critical of scrapped flight tax

The Nature Conservancy is critical that the flight tax will be abolished.

    – It is completely up the walls and the government leaves a complete walk over in climate policy. They are phasing out another functioning climate fuel and thereby increasing emissions, says Daniel Kihlberg, climate manager at the Nature Conservation Association.

The Nature Conservation Association believes that air travel will increase.

    – We will find it even more difficult to reach the climate goals. We are in the middle of an acute climate crisis and we need to reduce emissions quickly, says Daniel Kihlberg.

The government announced on Tuesday afternoon that the scrapped tax is part of the autumn budget which will be submitted to the Riksdag on 19 September.

    Photo: Björn Lindahl

The flight tax will be abolished, announced Linda Lindberg (SD) at a press meeting with the government parties. The scrapped tax is part of the autumn budget, which will be submitted to the Riksdag on 19 September.

    – Ticket prices will simply be reduced, says Linda Lindberg.

    – In this context, it is also worth mentioning that the flight tax as such does not have a direct connection to the emissions caused by flying. The tax is only charged per passenger, Linda Lindberg continues.

When asked if she believes that the demolition of the airport will not lead to any increases in emissions, Linda Lindberg replies that she hopes that in the long run it will lead to more air traffic.

    – Then of course it will affect the environment and climate change in that way. But that’s something we’ll have to look at a little later.

The government will also submit an infrastructure bill of SEK 1,200 billion, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) at the press conference. It is an increase of 20 percent and the largest infrastructure bill in 15 years, according to the prime minister.

It is unclear what kind of crime it is.

    – It is unclear if the person is a suspect in another country. I don’t know why this person has been wanted, it doesn’t appear. We only know that it has been an arrest, says Rebecka Landberg.

The alarm came in at 12 o’clock on Tuesday.

  • The police are investigating an attempted robbery

During the night of Tuesday, a man in his 80s was subjected to an attempted aggravated robbery in Säter.

He cannot say what type of crime it may be, but no one is said to have been physically injured. Nor has anyone been arrested or served with suspicion of crime.

Traffic in Norrköping is affected and traffic is diverted from Repslagargatan.

Olle Älveroth cannot say how the police received information about a suspected crime. Police are also speaking to people at the scene who may have seen or heard anything.
