Boyfriend sets Paris Olympic athlete on fire in Kenya

Kenyan Rebecca Cheptegei, who competed in the marathon at the Paris Olympics, has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Kenyan media of The Star along with the long distance runner Rebecca Cheptegein the boyfriend had set the Olympic athlete on fire on Monday morning and he has been rushed to the intensive care unit.

According to information, most of Cheptegei’s body suffered burns and he has been taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital in a critical condition.

According to the police chief, Cheptegei had been in the church with his children. On his way back home, he had argued with a man and he had poured gasoline on Cheptegei and set him on fire. The incident happened in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya.

The runner lives in Cheminy, Uganda, but according to information, he had bought land in Trans-Nzoia and built a house there, where he lived during his training.

According to the Kenyan media, the name of the boyfriend in question is Dickson Ndiema Marangach. Marangach has also suffered burns and has been taken to the same intensive care unit as Cheptegei.

Cheptegei participated in the marathon at the Paris Summer Olympics, being the 44th. Finland Camilla Richardson was the 65th in the same competition.
