Brand new Dragon Ball anime now has a concrete release

Anime fans can now count down the days until the new series Dragon Ball Daima, which finally has a concrete start date. October 11, 2024 The time has come when the format premieres with an extra-long opening episode. But there is a catch:

The release date is currently only valid for the Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV. A local release via Simulcast during the anime season in autumn is extremely likely, but it has not yet been officially announced.

Dragon Ball Daima: This is what the new anime series is about

In the sixth anime series on the topic of Dragon Balls, Son Goku and Co. are threatened by a sinister conspiracy transformed back into small children, which also explains why the chibi artwork is so reminiscent of the original series. To reverse this evil spell, they must embark on a great adventure into a strange and mysterious world. This is how Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, who died this year, described the series, which was one of his last projects.

A similar shrinking story already appeared in Dragon Ball GT, the third series of the action anime franchise. It remains to be seen how the new format will differ from this.

According to Anime News Network, Son Goku is still voiced by the now 87-year-old voice legend Masako Nozowa, who has voiced the strong martial arts hero since the original series in 1986. Last year, she was even honored with the prestigious Kikuchi-Kan Prize, which is awarded once a year to outstanding literary and cultural figures in Japan.

Yoshitaka Yashima and Aya Komaki share the directing work under the umbrella of Toei Animation for Dragon Ball Daima.
