On the first of October, Nattis in Arvidsjaur closes and instead parents will be offered Kvällis for their children. Something that hits hard not least at single mother Jennifer Strömberg.
– I prioritize my children and unfortunately have to leave my job as a nurse, she says.
During the time that Jennifer Strömberg has worked in home care, her sons Costian, 3, and Jimbo, 8, have been at nighttime on average five weekdays and two weekends per month.
When Nattis closes and evening ice cream opens, the children must be picked up no later than 10 p.m.
– Since I don’t have a driver’s license, Costian, 3, and Jumbo, 8, have to travel a few kilometers, in the middle of the night and sometimes in minus 30 degrees. At best, the boys go to bed at half past 11 and it feels terrible, she says.
Even the nurse Inga Drieënhuizen does not see Kvällis as an option for her son Bobbie.
– I will also resign, she says.
